We invite colleagues interested in the study of materiality in the context of early modern religiosity, as well as others interested in early modern collecting and object mobility, to a public roundtable. The debate will take place on 4 April from 12-1.15 p.m. in the lecture room of the IAH CAS, 1st floor. Moderated by Anne Mariss (Uni Regensburg) and Suzanna Ivanič (Kent), the discussion will feature Mary Laven (Cambridge, co-author of The Sacred Home in Renaissance Italy, 2018), Ulinka Rublack (Cambridge, author of Dürer's Lost Masterpiece: Art and Society at the Dawn of a Global Age, 2023) and Pamela H. Smith (New York, author of The Body of the Artisan: Art and Experience in the Scientific Revolution, 2004).
This event is supported by the DFG grant "Die Mobilität Religiöser Dinge. Devotionale und Sakrale Objekte in der frühneuzeitlichen Welt" and hosted by Studia Rudolphina, the Centre for Research on Rudolphine Art of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
