Loans of Collection Items

Collection items from the holdings of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences are loaned for exhibition purposes on the basis of a written request.

Loan requests must be submitted no later than four months before the opening of the exhibition. This advance notice is necessary for the administrative processing of the request, the conservator’s assessment of the condition of the collection item, and any necessary preparation of the work for transport and display.

The request should include basic information about the exhibition project, a list of the requested works, the venue and dates of the exhibition, details of the organiser, and the contact person.

Each request is assessed individually, taking into account the physical condition of the collection item, its significance, intended use, and the exhibition conditions. If the item requires more extensive conservation treatment, if its condition does not allow for safe handling or transport, or if its material nature and sensitive technique make it unsuitable for display, the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences reserves the right to reject the loan request.
