10th Opera Conference in Český Krumlov (21-22 September 2024) will focus on another issue of 18th century Italian opera, namely the research of copyists who were essential for the dissemination of the operatic repertoire. The specifics of copyists' practice in Venice, Naples, Vienna, Munich, Bonn, Leipzig, Prague, Jaroměřice and elsewhere will be presented by scholars from Italy, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The conference will take place as part of the Festival of Baroque Arts, during which the Hof-Musici ensemble under the direction of Ondřej Macek will perform Antonio Draghi’s mythological-allegorical opera "I Vaticinii di Tiresia Tebano" (The Prophecies of Tiresias of Thebes) in the castle theatre. It was performed for the first time at Prague Castle on 11 January 1680 to celebrate the birthday of Eleonore Magdalene of Neuburg, Empress of the Holy Roman Empire and Queen of Bohemia, wife of Emperor Leopold I, during the stay of the Imperial Court in Prague.
