Epigraphica & Sepulcralia 12

Epigraphica et Sepulcralia 12

Jiří Roháček (ed.)

The publication brings together papers from the 20th conference on sepulchral monuments, which took place on November 2–3, 2021. Institute of Art History, CAS has organized these multi-day conferences since 2000. They focus on sepulchral monuments as material artifacts of sepulchral culture and art in their traditional sense, showing actual or methodological relationships to Central Europe. However, the conferences also feature topics that shed light on the context in which these monuments were created and used. The emphasis is on interdisciplinarity, inter-regionality, and inter-institutionality. This concept has proved successful, as evidenced by the high quality of the contributions, the steady interest on the part of prominent experts from all over Central Europe, and the consistently large audience. Their focus, long tradition, and short intervals between the sessions make these conferences unique in the European context. They have become normative in many ways, with the papers regularly included in the Web of Science database in the Proceeding category. The present volume contains 18 texts by authors from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland featuring extensive photographic documentation and published in Czech, English, Slovak, and Polish with English and Czech abstracts.

First edition, in Czech and English resumé, black and white illustration, 406 pp., Prague 2022
