Head of the Department of the Photographic Library – Photographic Studio

Markéta Janotová holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (2010). During her graduate studies, she participated in an academic exchange program at the University of Granada, where she focused on sociology and cultural anthropology (2008).

Since 2010, she has been working at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, initially as a specialist in the Department of the Photographic Library – Photographic Studio. In 2016, she was appointed head of the department. Her responsibilities include coordinating photographic documentation both in the field and in the studio, managing and cataloguing photographic materials in electronic databases, and overseeing copyright matters related to the reproduction of images for scholarly publications and exhibition projects, both in the Czech Republic and internationally.
