PhDr. Milada Studničková

Researcher at the Department of Medieval Art.

Milada Studničková studied art history and Hungarian studies at the Faculty of Art at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (1978–83, MA) and at the Institute of Art History, Universität Wien (1981). She received her Ph.D. in 1985 from the Faculty of Art, Charles University. Since 1989, she has been working at the Institute of Art History CAS, focusing on 14th and 15th-century illuminated manuscripts and visual means of sovereigns' representation. Between 1995 and 2003, she held the position of the department secretary.

Milada Studničková took part in the institute's projects (Dějiny umění v českých zemích 800–2000). Along with Marie Theisen (Wien, ÖAW), she organized the international conference Art in an Unsettled Time. Bohemian Book Illumination before Guttenberg (ca.1380–1450). She also collaborated on the grant Imago / imagines. As part of the project Art of the Gothic and Early Renaissance Periods in the Eastern Bohemia Region, she took part in the preparation of the exhibition Uprostřed Koruny české – Gotické a raně renesanční umění východních Čech 1250–1550 in Hradec Králové. As part of the project Knihověda.cz: The portal of the history of Czech book culture until 1800, she collaborated on the exhibition Modlitební knihy v pozdním středověku in the National Library of the Czech Republic. She ist the principal investigator of the grant project  Libri precum: The Book of Hours of King Wenceslas IV in the Context of Lay Prayer Books (GAČR).
