La vendetta nell’opera italiana del Sei e Settecento
We cordially invite you to the 12th International Musicological Conference "La vendetta nell’opera italiana del Sei e Settecento", organized by the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Center for Baroque Arts, the Hof-Musici ensemble, and the Mozart Society in the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague.
Musicologists from Milan, Foggia, Pesaro, Salerno, Mainz, Kassel, Vienna, Klagenfurt, and Prague will focus on the theme of revenge (vendetta) and its transformations in the dramaturgy of 17th- and 18th-century Italian opera, in opera librettos, and in their musical settings.
The conference will take place on September 19–20, 2026, at the Study Centre in Český Krumlov at the Český Krumlov Castle as part of the Baroque Arts Festival. During the festival, the Hof-Musici ensemble under the direction of Ondřej Macek will perform Antonio Draghi's opera "Lo Smemorato" (The Forgetful Man), which premiered in 1683 at the Imperial Court in Vienna.
