Jakub Bachtík - Michal Kurz - Kristina Uhlíková
The catalogue accompanying the eponymous exhibition presents heritage protection in smaller towns as a subject which, at the beginning of the tumultous twentieth century, gradually came to the forefront of broader public interest. Shown on the stories of specific historic buildings throughout the regions, the book gives a glimpse of the complicated fates of monuments in the whirlwind of the modern times and focuses on personalities, often avid enthusiasts, who strongly engaged in a determined, although not always successful fight for their salvation. The lavish publication is accompanied by numerous historical and contemporary photographs, old architectural drawings and reproductions of key archival documents.
