The research focuses on two themes exclusively connected to the region of East Bohemia. The first part of the research is dedicated to František Schmoranz Sr., an important architect, builder and heritage conservator active in the second half of the 19th century, who significantly shaped the panoramas of East Bohemian towns and cities and also adapted the interiors of churches rebuilt in the Gothic revival style. The second part of the project is focused on the research into medieval art in the Pardubice region. As part of an interdisciplinary collaboration, individual monuments are examined using modern imaging techniques (CT, RTG, IRR) and scientific analyses (XRF, Raman spectroscopy). The findings will then be used in a touring exhibition dedicated to the Schmoranz family (RGM Chrudim, 2020) and they will also be discussed at a conference organized by RGM Chrudim and IAH CAS (2020). The interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists and art historians will result in an exhibition of Gothic art in the Chrudim and Pardubice regions (2020).
