Umění / Art is a peer-reviewed art historical journal that has been published by the Institute of Art History from 1953 onward. It focuses on Czech as well as Central European and European art from the Early Middle Ages to the present, while also addressing theoretical and methodological themes. It aims to support diverse approaches to interpretation of art including excursions to visual studies, philosophy and literature. In addition to original scholarly studies by both local and international researchers, Umění / Art publishes texts on conservation and archival research, reviews and interviews. The journal also publishes edited issues on diverse topics.
Starting in 2024, the journal is available through open access.
